Check your blood pressure
The only way of knowing whether you have high blood pressure is to have a blood pressure test.
All adults over 40 are advised to have their blood pressure checked at least every 5 years. Getting this done is easy and could save your life.
You can get your blood pressure tested at a number of places, including at our pharmacies. If you've not been diagnosed with high blood pressure and would like to get yours checked, contact or visit one of our branches.
If we find any potential signs of high blood pressure, we will refer you to your GP for further investigation and treatment if appropriate.
We provide the Discharge Medicines Service. The service has been established to help you understand your medicines and any changes when you leave hospital and to reduce incidences of avoidable harm caused by medicines.
We can dispense both NHS and Private prescriptions. Our Pharmacist will inform you if any items that are prescribed are cheaper than the current prescription charge. Our pharmacy operates a computer medication record system, which quickly tells us if you may take the medications prescribed with any other medications you may be taking or considering purchasing.
Return all unwanted medicines to a pharmacy where they will be correctly and safely destroyed. Do not hoard medicines - it can be dangerous.
This pharmacy can be ‘nominated’ so all your prescriptions can be sent directly from your surgery to the pharmacy electronically. If you wish to find out more about this service or request a Nomination Form, please contact the pharmacy
Women who have had unprotected sex are offered a consultation with a specially trained pharmacist, which is carried out in the pharmacy’s private consultation area. If appropriate, the woman is offered EHC.
BRP is HLP accredited. For further advise on how you can promote a healthy lifestyle ask at the pharmacy.
Loose tablets and capsules are dispensed in child resistant containers. However if you find these difficult to open, we can use ordinary tops. Remember - Keep all medicines out of children’s sight and reach. Our pharmacist can advise you on safe storage of medicines.

BRP provides this service to help support people with long-term conditions, who are newly prescribed a medicine, to help improve their understanding of their condition and medicines, so they are better able to make decisions about their treatment and self- manage
A flexible Reminder System to make sure that you never forget to take your medication, ever! Keeps a history of all medications taken and email it to whomsoever you wish. Free App available from iTunes or Android for smartphones and is available for laptops & PC’s
If you have difficulty calling in at the pharmacy or are house- bound, we will be pleased to deliver your medication to you
You can nominate this pharmacy to collect your repeat prescription from your doctor. You can call at the pharmacy to collect your medication when it is convenient for you to do so. Ask us for more information about this service.
Our pharmacist can supervise the consumption of prescribed medicines at the point of dispensing in the pharmacy, ensuring that the dose has been administered to the patient. This is a discreet and efficient service that supports you in achieving your treatment goals.

The term obese describes a person who is very overweight. There are two ways of checking your weight status. Firstly, Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of whether you’re a healthy weight for your height. A BMI of > 25 means you are over-weight.
Another measure of excess fat is your waist circumference. Generally, men with a waist circumference of 94cm or more and women with a waist circumference of 80 cm or more are more likely to develop obesity related health problems. These include
Type 2 diabetes, Coronary heart disease, some types of cancer, such as breast cancer and bowel cancer and stroke. If you are worried about diabetes we can give you a diabetic test.
Obesity can also affect your quality of life and lead to psychological problems such as depression and low self-esteem. Please let us help you before your weight gets out of control.
